Pediatric Orthopaedic Society Honors Arnold Palmer Hospital Physician

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 3, 2011) – The Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) has honored Charles T. Price, MD, director of pediatric orthopedic education at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, with the 2011 Distinguished Achievement Award.

The award was presented at the POSNA annual meeting in Montreal, Canada, May 12-14, 2011.

Price was recognized for his leadership in the development of the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium, an annual meeting that defines state-of-the-art pediatric orthopedic care. The award also recognizes his service to POSNA as President of the organization in 2003-2004, and his contributions to the education of orthopedic surgery residents and fellows.

Price is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with the Pediatric Orthopedic Specialty Practice at Arnold Palmer Hospital. He served as chairman of the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium for 10 years, and currently serves on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Council on Education. In addition, he is currently serving a four-year term as Chairman of the Annual Meeting Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Price is also director of the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI), where research into hip dysplasia has led to the identification of hip-healthy swaddling methods that are now being promoted nationally and implemented by doctors and nurses at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. IHDI was established to be the most comprehensive and reliable resource for patients, families, and physicians seeking information about hip dysplasia in its various forms.
